Yesterday, I wrote a post called Michelle Obama Looked Great Last Night! (Oh, By the Way, You Been Took). In it, I used a quote from Malcom X to illuminate the fact that the Obama Administration, and the democratic party in general, owes an incredible debt to the…
Wherever an employee operates a cash register for a boss, a robbery is taking place. Capitalists accumulate wealth by paying workers less than the value they produce, so that many people’s labor fills the pockets of a few. Work is a stickup - the greatest heist of all time. It has created the worst inequalities in history, giving a small number of people control over most of the earth.
If your life were truly in your hands, would you use it to enrich bosses and stockholders? Would you get up early every morning just to compete against people like yourself? Woul you give away the fruits of your labor to corporations, landlords, and tax collectors? We only do these things because the world is held hostage from us - because we think we have no other choices.
When someone tries to rob you, what do you do? Do you hand over whatever they demand? Or do you defend yourself?

Vote Republicrat 2012
The false dichotomy of conservative vs liberal is one of the most effective illusions Americans have bought into. We are divided along the meaningless and artificial social cleavage of Repub vs Dem when the only division that has any meaning is between the few hundred power elite and the rest of us. Or, in Occupy terms, the 1% vs the 99%. Don’t let them define your reality anymore!
I imagine the day when every person can spend their day however they want - creating beautiful art, studying whatever they want, inventing or building something useful, spending time with their friends, exploring the world, or just laying around the house playing with their kids. On that day, no one will be hungry or without a roof over their head; no one will be sick and unable to afford a doctor or medicine; no one will be forced to work for someone else in return for mere subsistence; no one will be forced to pick up a gun and shoot their fellow-men and fellow-women. Heaven? No, I don’t believe in fairy tales anymore. Utopia? You bet. And why not? If we don’t dream, imagine, and build a better future, how will our children forgive us?
They say, “Why are you protesting? Look around you, everything is fine! It’s not that bad, just a hiccup in economic growth. It’s not like we’re Greece or Spain!”
But we know…we know that it is coming…we know that we are the canaries in the coal mines…
